North Dakota Legislative Assembly Then...and Now! - 13th Legislative Session

The 13th Legislative Assembly of North Dakota, 25 years after statehood, consisted of 111 representatives and 50 senators. Of the 161 legislators, only one was born in the Dakota Territory and one born in North Dakota.

Twenty-five years into statehood many laws were being established to regulate good and services and provide many of the general rules still applicable today, such as hunting regulations, weighing and grading of crops, and inspection regulations for consumer products.

Compensation was $5 per day ($128.21 in 2014) and 10 cents per mile expense reimbursement as set by the Constitution of North Dakota in 1889.
