Between 1989 and 2003 Community Access Television broadcast gavel-to-gavel coverage of legislative proceedings locally through Midcontinent Communications, cable channel 12. Since 2001 the North Dakota Interactive Video Network (IVN) and the Information Technology Department, in cooperation with Community Access Television, have webcast the floor proceedings over the Internet.
Starting in 2005, video will be available only through live web streaming. Community Access Television is providing one camera operator to broadcast House and Senate proceedings on an alternating, weekly basis, i.e., the proceedings of the House are broadcast during the first week of the session, the proceedings of the Senate are broadcast during the second week, continuing on an alternating basis through the legislative session. Depending on length of proceedings in either chamber, a particular day's broadcast may include coverage of the other house.
