  • The status of claims pending in the Medicaid management information system
  • The status of planning for a new Medicaid management information system, including the possibility of sharing a system with Workforce Safety and Insurance
  • A status report on a pilot project implemented in Grand Forks, which allows Medicaid recipients to "opt in" to the local hospital's health maintenance organization

11:45 a.m. Committee discussion and recommendation regarding the entity to be contracted with by the Legislative Council for cost-benefit analyses of legislative measures mandating health insurance coverage, pursuant to North Dakota Century Code Section 54-03-28

NURSING HOME SURVEY PROCESS STUDY

1:00 p.m. Presentation by a representative of the State Department of Health regarding:
  • A review of other states' laws directing nursing home surveyors to consider the diagnosis and treatment provisions of the resident's attending physician
  • Recommendations to enhance the informal dispute resolution process
  • The possibility of collaboration between the State Department of Health and the State Fire Marshal regarding life safety and fire codes for health care facilities
  • The responsibility of the State Department of Health when Life Safety Code violations are "overlooked" by the department during the process of reviewing construction plans and which later result in added costs for the health care facility
