  • The status of housing state female inmates and related facility improvements, including the elevator installation
  • The 2005-07 biennium budget for the Dakota Women's Correctional Rehabilitation Center
9:00 a.m. Presentation by a representative of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation regarding the status of housing state female inmates and related costs

9:15 a.m. Presentation by a representative of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation regarding:
  • The department's 2005-07 biennium budget request and plans for additional prison beds, including the use of State Hospital facilities
  • The results of the architect's study of the replacement of the east cellhouse at the State Penitentiary
9:50 a.m. Presentation by a representative of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation regarding the process for the riverbank stabilization project to proceed at the Missouri River Correctional Center

2:15 p.m. Presentation by a representative of the Department of Human Services regarding the status of the sexual offender program at the State Hospital, including the population, costs associated with the program, and plans for the program in the 2005-07 biennium
2:30 p.m. Presentation by a representative of the Governor's office regarding an update on the Governor's Task Force on Violent and Sexual Offenders, including costs associated with the recommendations of the task force for the 2005-07 biennium
2:45 p.m. Presentation by a representative of the Department of Human Services Children and Family Services Division regarding funding included in the department's 2005-07 biennium budget request to address additional child welfare costs related to illegal drug manufacturing and use
3:00 p.m. Presentation by a representative of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation regarding:
  • Inmate populations and projections and the related effects on the department's 2003-05 biennium budget
  • Updated information on inmate population information, including sentence lengths and recidivism rates
3:20 p.m. Comments by interested persons regarding the committee's studies
3:45 p.m. Committee discussion and staff directives regarding committee recommendations and the preparation of the committee report
