  • Change Veterans Home admission requirements for veterans

  • Allow service-connected compensation received by veterans to be used for the veterans' cost of care at the Veterans Home
9:20 a.m. Testimony by representatives of the Veterans Home regarding the proposed bill drafts, including the related estimated fiscal impacts
9:30 a.m. Comments by representatives of the Administrative Committee on Veterans Affairs regarding the proposed bill drafts
9:45 a.m. Presentation by representatives of the Veterans Home of a status report on the Veterans Home 2001-03 biennium budget and operations, including:
  • Actual expenditures to date as compared to projections
  • Expenditures charged to the general fund, federal funds, and special funds
  • Federal and other funds collections
  • End-of-month balances available in federal funds and special funds
  • Number of residents
10:15 a.m. Presentation by representatives of the State Auditor's office regarding the status of the performance audit of the Veterans Home

RACING COMMISSION STUDY

10:45 a.m. Presentation by the Legislative Council staff of a proposed bill draft relating to the deposit of select receipts of the Racing Commission
11:00 a.m. Presentation by representatives of the Racing Commission regarding the status of the Fargo race facility and comments regarding the proposed bill draft
11:15 a.m. Comments by other interested persons regarding the proposed bill draft and the Racing Commission study

HIGHWAY FUNDING STUDY

11:30 a.m. Comments by supporters for improving North Dakota Highway 30
12:00 noon Luncheon recess
1:00 p.m. Presentation by representatives of the Department of Transportation on the status of the development of a strategic transportation plan, status of highway tax distribution fund revenues, and on recommendations for increasing transportation-related revenues
1:30 p.m. Comments by representatives of the North Dakota Association of Counties regarding recommendations for increasing transportation-related revenues
1:45 p.m. Comments by representatives of the North Dakota League of Cities regarding recommendations for increasing transportation-related revenues
