CONSOLIDATING VISION SERVICES

10:00 a.m. Presentation by the Legislative Council staff of bill drafts that:
  • Clarify that the School for the Blind is responsible for serving persons of all ages with visual impairments
  • Consolidate vision services provided by the Vocational Rehabilitation Division under the School for the Blind
  • Consolidate the School for the Blind under the Department of Human Services
  • Consolidate the School for the Blind and vision services provided by the Vocational Rehabilitation Division under a separate agency

3:45 p.m. Presentation by representatives of the Department of Human Services on the status of the establishment of a traumatic brain-injured (TBI) facility in western North Dakota, the status of funding for services provided by the facility, how the facility will affect the moratorium on the number of beds, and on any recommended statutory changes
4:00 p.m. Presentation by representatives of Housing, Industry, and Training (HIT), Inc., on the proposed budget for its TBI facility in Mandan

4:30 p.m. Presentation by representatives of the Department of Human Services regarding the status of Alzheimer's and related dementia projects and on any statutory changes needed to continue these projects in the future

9:45 a.m. Presentation by representatives of the Department of Human Services regarding the feasibility and desirability of collocating the State Hospital and the Developmental Center at one location, including the additional costs and capital improvements that would be required to house the State Hospital patients and programs at the Developmental Center
10:00 a.m. Presentation by representatives of the Developmental Center regarding services provided for persons with traumatic brain injury at the Developmental Center and related costs
10:15 a.m. Comments by committee members and other interested persons
