SURVEY OF DISCRIMINATION CALLS
The interim Judiciary Committee, in its study of the level of and remedies for discrimination in the state, requested several state agencies and departments as well as the state's attorneys in the counties of Cass, Burleigh, Grand Forks, and Ward to track the number of complaints received by each agency or department from citizens who have been victims of discrimination and the nature of the discrimination. The period for tracking the calls was from October 1997 through March 1998. The information received from the agencies and departments is summarized below.
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
The Department of Health reported that it had not received any discrimination-related calls during the tracking period.
LABOR DEPARTMENT
The Labor Department was asked to track calls on claims of discrimination that were not employment-related. The department reported receiving one nonemployment-related call during the tracking period. The nature of the call involved housing discrimination.
ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE
No record of calls was available.
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES
Three divisions within the Department of Human Services tracked discrimination-related calls during the tracking period. The calls received by the Office for Civil Rights, the Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, and the North Dakota ADA Coordinator are summarized below.

STATE'S ATTORNEYS
Four state's attorneys were asked to track discrimination-related calls, and all four reported that no discrimination-related calls had been received during the tracking period.
