54th Legislative Assembly

The 54th Legislative Assembly consisted of a Senate with 49 senators and a House of Representatives with 98 representatives. The 54th Legislative Assembly organized December 6-8, 1994, and met in regular session from Tuesday, January 3, 1995, through Friday, April 7, 1995. There were 1,041 bills (502 in the House and 539 in the Senate), 117 concurrent resolutions, two memorial resolutions, and one concurrent memorial resolution introduced. Of the total 1,161 bills and resolutions introduced, 309 House bills, 323 Senate bills, 29 House concurrent resolutions, 59 Senate concurrent resolutions, and one House, one Senate, and one concurrent memorial resolution passed. The Governor signed 627 bills into law. He vetoed eight bills, and seven of the vetoes were sustained. Three vetoes were item vetoes and did not affect the entire bill. Thus, 628 of the 632 bills became law.
